Moebius Knitting

Moebius. Mobius. Who cares! All I know is it is really, really cool technique for knitting. I've made a few scarfs in the past years and it's rather relaxing to do while watching tv. You can easily pick it up, knit for a little bit and save some for the next night. Easy "come and go" kind of project. When I found this cowl, or capelet, or whatever it is I wanted to know how to make it. Once I did some digging it realized it had a special technique called Moebius, which twists the knitting as you go. Ah, that's how they made that shape! So, I'm going to unpack the old yarn and buy some circular needles (needles attached to a wire loop) and give this a shot! I'll let you know how it goes.

Here is a link to Cat Bordhi's "Intro to Moebius knitting". Very good description if you're interested.

Pondering French Food

I love cooking. It's so much fun to create something tasty and have people go "ooohhh, mmmm, this is sooooo good!" Yeah, I'm in it for the praise! I gotta get the compliments or it's not worth it! But I do enjoy making and trying new recipes. Some of my favorite food is usually overloaded with spices and the combination of unique flavors like, Greek, Thai or India. But ever since I watched the movie "Julie & Julia", I've been wanting French food. I've had it once atCafe Provencal in St. Louis and it was délicieux, but I haven't found a true French restaurant in Huntsville yet. There is one called "D&L Bistro" that seems enticing. It's a bit pricey, but their menu looks fantastic. If I go there, I'll let you all know my review.

So, after excitedly watching and laughing through the whole movie, I'm determined that I'm going to start a collection of cookbooks in all food cultures. First on my list is a French cook book. Maybe Julia Childs, but they are NOT cheap! and they're HUGE! Let's start smaller. I want beautiful pictures of every meal that show you what your creation is SUPPOSED to look like, even though it never really does! Then, to add to my collection I want a German cookbook, Greek, Indian, Thai… the list continues. I don't want some watered-down, quickie "American version". I want the real thing done the right way! Then I shall invite everyone over for a dinner party!

Q&A time

I always enjoy reading my friends blogs about their lives more so than reading a blog that actually educates me! I get tired of forcing knowledge in my head, so when there is something so simple as answering some fun questions, I'm on board! I found this on my friend Kristen's blog and loved it! Here are some facts about me and Justin you never knew...
How long have you been together?
We met back in high school, so this year will be 10 years.

How long did you know each other before you started dating?
We didn't know each other at all. I've always heard of Justin, someone my friend knew from the rival high school, and always thought I should meet him sometime- that would be fun! Who knew!

Who asked who out?
Hmmm, this is a tough one. Oh yeah, he did and I turned him down the first time! But he never gave up! Thank goodness!

Who made the first move?
Hahaha! I needed a ride home the first night I met him, so I let him take me. On his way he said "NEXT TIME I take you home, I'll go this way... "Smooth, huh? Who said there would be a NEXT TIME!

How old are each of you?
I'm exactly one month, to the day, older than him.

Did you go to the same school?
Nope. Technically, he went to the rival high school in the same district. But the boys over there were always cuter!

Are you from the same home town?
Nope. I was born and raised in St. Louis. Justin was born in New Orleans and moved to St. Louis as a kid.

Who is the smartest?
Well, we are both smart in different ways. But if you count our "book smarts" I'd have to say an mechanical engineer has a smarter field. Although, in my opinion I was smarter than him in high school... just saying!

Who majored in what?
I majored in Graphic Design and he's finishing his Mechanical engineering degree.

Who is the most sensitive?
Probably me, but he can be too. But I've been told I'm heartless, several times, by different people :(

Where do you eat out most as a couple?
Hmm, it tends to be more ethnic places that we like the best. Like Greek or Chinese or Thai. Definitely Thai, our favorite!

Where is the furthest you two have traveled together as a couple?
Bahamas! Sad, I know, but we have much bigger trips coming up in the next year or so! You'll find out more later when they are official!

Who has the worst temper?
I think I do. I'm not the most patient person, but I'm good at hiding it. Justin gets mad at stupid customer service reps very, very easily!

How many children do you want?
Only two, not any more than that!

Who does the cooking?
Please! He doesn't cook anything but meat!

Who is more social?
Probably Justin, he can talk for a long time. I don't like talking on the phone either, but he can talk for hours.

Who is the neat-freak?
He is way more neat-freak than me. I don't care if my clothes are wrinkled and the bed's not made! It's not hurting me any.

Who is the most stubborn?
Hmm, neither of us really.

Who wakes up earlier?
Justin wakes up earlier than me, except weekends. I have to bribe him with breakfast to get up.

Where was your first date?
Oh man! I don't even remember! 10 years is long ago. But, I do remember having a sort of date to a party that we never made it to. We ended up chauffeuring everyone around for money all night! That's what happens when you drive before all of your friends.

Who has the bigger family?
Me, oh yes. Definitely me.

Do you get flowers often?
Maybe once a year. But I'd rather that, then every holiday and expect it. It's more of a surprise when it's rare!

How do you spend the holidays?
We always visit my family since we live so far from them now.

Who is more jealous?
Neither of us. We don't get jealous really. I can't even think of a scenario.

Who eats more?
Justin, thank goodness. It would be bad if we ate the same.

Who does the laundry?
Mainly me, but that will change when he's done with school! He does help fold.

Who’s better with the computer?
Well, I have an imac with very little ram and can't do anything to it. Justin has a pc that he built, with lots of ram. You make the call.

Who drives when you are together?
He always drives cause he gets kinda sick just looking out the window... like a dog.
