The Sticky-Note Project: Week 7

Finally caught up!!! I'm really getting tempted to bring in some color, just not sure what kind of medium to use. Do I use colored pencils (really not a fan of them), maybe some pastel (it's messy)? I'll have to think on this one...

Week 7:

She could have been so cool but I ruined the hair in the face... Oh well.

All I can say is NOT a good day...

The Sticky-Note Project: Week 6

Almost caught up on posting the several weeks worth of drawings. To be honest, I really didn't think I'd stick with this. I've barely made a dent in the pile of sticky notes I have on my desk!

Week 6:

I didn't like the bottom dog, so I redrew another. He's cuter.

I'm really not sure what this even is!

The Sticky-Note Project: Week 5

Ok, I've got to say these look sooooo much better once they're scanned and put on a website than they actually do in my little yellow sticky note book! It's amazing how once you get a sketch into a computer it changes how you see it. On to week 5...

Week 5:

Found a tutorial on Pinterest (if you don't know what this is, be warned it's addictive!)

Do not like this hair, screwed up by scratchiness!

You'll see in the next few weeks lots of Halloween inspired drawings I'm sure!

The Sticky-Note Project: Week 4

Week 4 is finally getting a little better! In my opinion at least! I'm also doing this project, not just to draw, but to hopefully see an improvement as the weeks go on. It was definitely hard to start drawing on such a small space (3 x 3 inches) but also I'm not as comfortable with a ball point pen. Sometimes they bleed when you don't want them to, or get scratchy in certain places.

Week 4:

Ugh! What is wrong with her lips! Must practice this!

Love this one!

... and this one!

The Sticky-Note Project: Week 3

On to week 3... Everything is really random because I tend to get ideas from my email blasts each and every day! Now that I've started drawing at work during lunch, I'm getting the itch to start practicing and retraining myself during the weekend! Keep in mind, these are just quick, under 5 min sketches.

Week 3:

Blah! I do not like this shoe one... Bad day!

Better, but I need to work on faces, I kind of screwed this one up!

Yum! Cupcakes!

The Sticky-Note Project: Week 2

Since I've got a lot of catch up to do, I think about 5-6 weeks of doodles, you're going to get hit up all at once! Ha! Here's the next batch of sticky note sketches... I think I've found my favorite pen this week!!! It's hard trying to remember how to draw. It's been since college...

Week 2:
So, some of the sticky notes had inside jokes on them. This one is making fun of the constant stench our office has... tar odor covered by overpowering dryer sheet smell!

The Sticky-Note Project: Week 1

Yikes! It's almost been a year since I've written anything on this blog. Well, I'm taking it back again, starting with a new project I'm challenging myself with. When Justin and I were away in Europe for two weeks, my co-workers thought it would be funny to sticky note my whole cubicle AND Photoshop me in stupid "touristy" pics. Little did they know it would start a whole new project for me - A sticky note drawing a day!
They lined the trash can, bookshelf, everything...
Instead of throwing away the hundreds that they used I decided I'm going to challenge myself to use one each day, draw anything my heart desires and make a collective book in the end. Sometimes it gets hard to find something to draw, let alone remember to do it, and sometimes it's petty discouraging because you have good days and bad days - but I can't erase it since ink pens are all I have around! I just have to go with the flow, for good or bad, each day and keep what comes out.

I originally wanted to post my new drawing each day, but let's be honest - it's not going to happen. Did you see the last time I posted! So, I'm hoping to keep it manageable by posting a week's worth at a time. Oh, and be forewarned, I'm not claiming that you're going to see anything "art-worthy" or good! It's just what happens to come out in a doodle the size of a sticky note (which is NOT in my comfort zone size btw)...

Week 1:
The cover - Ok, here we go...

I did not like the pen I tried, so I attempted the girl again with a felt tip and STILL didn't like.
Mixed the felt tip and ball point, not a keeper idea...
