Sticky Note Project: Week 22

Back on track... it's been 4 WEEKS since I've last updated this poor blog! It's amazing how quickly one month ends and another sneaks up on you. Luckily, I've had time to squeeze in some doodles during my lunch breaks. I've been stocking up the last months drawings on my desk, anxiously waiting to update them. I have a freelance magazine project that I've been intensely working on for the last two months, approved and is printing away this week! Whoo Hoo! Spring and freedom have FINALLY arrived!

I've noticed that my blank sticky note pile is dwindling down; hopefully I'll make it to August! I really wanted to make a full year out of them. But take a look at this stack of finished images! I've finally hit 100 images this week too!

I totally forgot I had this image saved away on my phone that I discovered on some old work notes...

Sticky Note Project: Week 21

Happy Valentines Day week! My theme seemed to just fall into focus around all the goodies that go along with preparing for the most commercial day of love – perfume, cookies, flowers and even the occasional love letter. My hubby brought me home a beautiful bouquet flowers but the best part was a pink hydrangea for the back yard! Our old house was FULL of flowers all spring and summer and miss bringing them inside to enjoy. No florist bouquet can compete with the aroma of fresh cut backyard flowers! We planted about 100 bulbs this weekend so I can't wait to see those little leaves come poking out of the ground in the coming months!

Week 21:

Sticky Note Project: Week 20

I completely skipped a full week! I cant' believe it! Well, I'm brushing it aside and accepting sometimes it's just not going to happen as I plan! So, on to the next - here's what I've been working on this week.

Week 20: (kind of!)

So, it WAS the Chinese New Year when I drew this, but now it's my lunch from Friday!

I've been trying a new style of drawing faces, although its really weird going back to the small sticky note size and trying it.

I really like the way the colors came out in this one.


I know, I know... the "L" is backwards, BUT this one came from one of my sticky notes with a LOST quote on it. I just had to run with it!

Sticky Note Project: Week 19

Typography week! This week I decided to illustrate different typography styles and fonts. The quotes are pretty random, usually from something I happened to see that day or hear on the radio! Nothing special... but on another note of something that IS special - I'm almost to 100 sticky note images!

Week 19:

Sticky Note Project: Week 18

So, I decided that I want to try and start adding color in my doodles, so I brought something easy to use at work - sketch markers. I have to say I'm not liking them AT ALL. I thought I would, but I'm not liking the lack of control and I feel like the color is just too pigmented with one stroke. I much more a fan of water color consistency. So, my next attempt go in afterwards and slowly build up color.

Week 18:

Sticky Note Project: Week 17

Happy New Year! Ahhh, what a nice break, but I'm ready to jump back into my weekly sticky note drawings as well as devote more free time to trying new techniques. It's quite a rainy start to the new year so I might need to to take advantage of this dreary day and pull out some watercolor and paper! I also found some great sketch markers i tried out this week. I can't say it was "successful" but it was worth a shot, we'll see what happens in the coming weeks!

Week 17:

I'll admit, this one's a little creepy... but i love the 2012 ring.

I found some sketch markers in my stash and decided to give those a shot.
